How will technology integration help the shipping industry to maximise vessel and voyage efficiencies and reach its net zero goals both faster, and – vitally – smarter?
Norsepower hosted a panel discussion where participants challenged conventional thinking around clean technology investment, a market that has often been characterised by investments in one single technology, with financial decisions often based upon on antiquated payback algorithms. Panellists highlighted the variety of drivers challenging the industry to decarbonise: the anticipated cost of carbon as a tax or levy, increasing fuel costs as new, low carbon fuels emerge, pending EEXI and CII regulations, and ‘demand side’ ESG drivers from shippers, banks and other stakeholders.

How can the design and installation of Rotor Sails and other clean technologies help meet known and unknown regulatory drivers and future-proof the global fleet?
Date: Wednesday 8th September 2021 Time: 13:00 BST/ 14:00 CEST/ 15:00 EEST
Panellists will explore potential market consolidation during the transition to net zero and the commercial and regulatory drivers impacting decision making for developing resilient fleets. With the prospect of regional regulation and rising commercially driven forces, shipping faces an unprecedented challenge to decarbonise that will require the sector to invest in new initiatives driven by push and pull effects.
What are the near-term challenges for ship owners and operators in meeting imminent EEXI and CII requirements and how can these be overcome?
How can ship owner and charterers collaborate better to reach favourable commercial agreements whilst working towards environmental goals?
How can the industry future-proof against ESG demands and higher fuel costs?

The installation of two Norsepower Rotor Sails on the Maersk Pelican was widely viewed as a significant step forward for the progress of wind propulsion technology in shipping. This webinar discusses how wind power can play a crucial role in meeting 2030 and 2050 decarbonisation goals.
The panellists share what the industry can be learned from utilising wind propulsion technology and the value in the measurement and verification process.
