Management Team
M.Sc. (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering) & eMBA (Kellogg-WHU) Heikki Pöntynen comes to Marine business on the back of an extensive international career in the Maritime sector, and he has held management positions in Finland, China, Hong Kong and the USA. Heikki has served as a senior executive with R&M Group, Rauma Marine Constructions – Rauma Shipyard, Elomatic and MacGREGOR Group.
M.Sc. (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering) & eMBA Jukka Kuuskoski has worked with ABB’s marine business unit for 15 years in management positions of electric propulsion project delivery, sales and marketing, and service operations. Before joining Norsepower Jukka worked for 7 years in the wind power industry.
M.Sc. (Tech.) Jarkko Väinämö is an expert in the wind power industry. He has notable COO experience and previously worked as Director of Engineering at Winwind, the first Finnish multi-megawatt wind turbine manufacturer. Before that he has held various R&D and R&D management positions within the wind power industry.
Ron Rubinstein has over 30 years experience in financial operations including serving as CFO of technology growth companies in California and Finland. As CFO, entrepreneur or financial advisor, he has helped raise equity investments from venture capital and other institutional investors, venture debt and various R&D and growth grants and loans from public sources.
Board of Directors
Mr Jarmo Saaranen is the Managing Partner and Chairman of VNT Management Oy, with more than 35 years of experience in the energy and technology sectors. Prior to joining VNT, he held senior leadership positions at ABB across research and development, sales, supply chain, production, and business line management. Throughout his career, Jarmo has served on the boards of numerous startup and growth companies, bringing extensive expertise in technology commercialisation, strategic growth, and venture capital.
Ms Hannah-Mei is an Investment Director at Climate Investment, one of Norsepower’s major shareholders. Hannah-Mei is responsible for all aspects of the investment life cycle, including origination, diligence and portfolio management. Hannah-Mei joined Climate Investment in 2018 and prior to that had a career in the defense sector. She is CI’s coverage lead for maritime and logistics.
Ms Anne Boulet is an Investment Director at Mirova, a global asset manager dedicated to sustainable investing and one of Norsepower’s key shareholders. She has extensive experience in climate-focused private equity investments, supporting the growth and international expansion of innovative companies driving the environmental transition. Throughout her career, Anne has worked closely with high-growth cleantech businesses, contributing strategic guidance through board roles and investment management.
Mr Joshua Haacker is Chief Investment Officer at Climate Investment, where he focuses on venture and growth investments in companies developing technologies that accelerate industrial decarbonisation and the energy transition. He has more than 20 years of climate investing experience in venture capital, private equity and real assets, supporting innovative technology companies from early de-risking through global scale-up. Throughout his career, Joshua has served on the boards of several high-growth businesses, providing strategic guidance in technology commercialisation, sustainable growth and international expansion.
Ms Marie-Estelle Iorio is an Investment Director at Bpifrance, where she focuses on growth-stage investments in innovative industrial and climate technology companies. She has extensive experience in private equity, corporate finance, and strategic development, supporting businesses as they scale internationally. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with high-growth technology companies, contributing strategic guidance through investment management and board positions.
Mr Anders Vedel is the definition of the development of the wind industry through his many years in Vestas. He has been across all the disciplines of the industry, incl. service, production, project development, technology development and innovation. Anders was CTO in Vestas for 9 years, securing Vestas its leading position, and is currently the Chief Science Advisor to the Executive Management and the Board of Vestas.
Advisors
Mr Jorma Eloranta is one of the most experienced Finnish international business leaders. In his career he has been CEO of Metso, Kvaerner Masa-Yards, Patria Industries, and Finvest and a COB of Stora Enso. He has also been a board member for the Cargotec Corporation. In addition, Eloranta has invested in several industrial start-up companies.
Professor, Dr. H.C. Kai Levander is probably the most famous Finnish naval architect. He was responsible for R&D, concept development, and feasibility studies in the Cruise and Ferries Business Area of STX Finland. He has been an innovator in many ship building projects such as the Finnjet gas turbine ferry, the Silja Serenade cruise ferry, the Windstar sailing cruise ship, and many cruise ships for Carnival and Royal Caribbean Cruises. He works for Norsepower as senior technical advisor.
